$107,353 Stronach 5 Carryover for Friday, Sept. 27

LAUREL, MD – There will be a $107,353.23 carryover in the Friday, Sept. 27 Stronach 5 after there were no winning tickets in Friday’s Stronach 5.

There were plenty of longshots in Friday’s Stronach 5. The sequence kicked off with a $27.40 winner in Laurel Park’s eighth race with Laddie Liam. It concluded with the 30-1 longshot Seeking The Truth winning Gulfstream’s ninth race and returning $67.40.

The Stronach 5 has an industry-low 12-percent takeout.

LAUREL, MD – A week after featuring five turf races, Friday’s Stronach 5 will take to the main tracks at Laurel Park, Gulfstream Park and Golden Gate Fields with a $100,000 guaranteed pool and 12-percent takeout.

LAUREL, MD – Friday’s Stronach 5, which featured a $96,906.44 carryover, had 88 winning tickets with each receiving $3,997.

The sequence kicked off with Tricky Lion ($7.80) winning the eighth race at Laurel Park and ended with Ete Indien (($7.60) winning the closing leg in Gulfstream Park’s ninth race. The highest payoff occurred in the fourth race at Golden Gate Fields with Gas Can (12.20).

“Justify, as with every horse who raced in the 2018 Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, MD, was subjected to pre-race drug testing by the Maryland Racing Commission. Justify, as the winner of the 143rd Preakness, along with several other horses who competed, also received extensive post-race testing by that same body. The Maryland Jockey Club was informed that all of those tests came back negative for any illicit substance or for the overages of any prohibited medication.”

LAUREL, MD – With no winning ticket in Friday’s Stronach 5, the popular wager with an industry-low 12-percent takeout will have a carryover of $96,906.44 on Friday, Sept. 13.

The carryover occurred when the 60-1 longshot Channeledslongshot won Gulfstream Park’s ninth race and the final leg of the Stronach 5 sequence and returned $141.40.

The sequence kicked off with Stroll Smokin ($11.20) winning Laurel Park’s eighth race. The entry of Midship Lady/More Or Less ($4.40) won the fourth leg at Laurel.

LAUREL, MD – The Stronach 5, featuring a $100,000 guaranteed pool and industry-low 12-percent takeout, returns Friday with races from Laurel Park, Gulfstream Park and Golden Gate Fields.

The sequence kicks off at 5:12 p.m. with a field of 10 Maryland-bred or Maryland-sired allowance runners going six furlongs at Laurel. The remaining four races of the Stronach 5 are all scheduled on the turf.

BALTIMORE – For the first time since they met in the 144th Preakness Stakes (G1) May 18 at Pimlico Race Course, three of the top five finishers in the Middle Jewel of the Triple Crown will line up again in Saturday’s $1.25 million Travers (G1) at Saratoga.

Calumet Farm’s Everfast, Rupp Racing’s Owendale and Alex and JoAnn Lieblong’s Laughing Fox are among the field of 12 set to assemble for the 150th Travers.

53 Winners Each Take Home $1,837 in Stronach 5

LAUREL, MD – There were 53 winning tickets in Friday’s Stronach 5 with each ticket worth $1,837.70.

Friday’s sequence began with two races at Laurel Park. Zitarrosa ($7.40) won the opening leg of the Stronach 5 and Mice and Men ($12.60) the second leg. After heavy favorite Slingin Sammy B ($3.40) won the third leg from Gulfstream, 11-1 shot Bandito ($25.40) lit up the board at Laurel in the fourth leg. The final leg, a scratch-filled affair from Gulfstream taken off the turf, was won by 1-5 favorite Vinnie Van Go.
