Rainbow 6, Late Pick 5 Solved Friday at Pimlico

Super Hi-5 Carryover of $2,249 for Saturday’s Opener
Elegant Supermodel Narrow Favorite in $100,000 Stormy Blues

BALTIMORE – For the second time in four racing days, the 20-cent Rainbow 6 was solved by one lucky bettor when 11-1 long shot Chateau de Vizille upset the ninth race Friday at historic Pimlico Race Course for a jackpot payoff of $7,071.68.

Norman Lewis’ Chateau de Vizille ($24), trained by Hall of Famer King Leatherbury, was one of three horses live to take down the jackpot heading into Friday’s finale, completing the winning 6-8-5-4-8-2 sequence. A total of $4,274 was bet into the Rainbow 6, which had a carryover of $3,652.10 from Thursday’s program.

On May 28, the Rainbow 6 produced a life-changing payoff of $230,597.20 for a single ticket-holder from Las Vegas.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Chateau de Vizille’s victory also meant a payoff of $19,730.75 for having all five winners in the 50-cent Late Pick 5. A total of $14,397 was bet into the Pick 5, which offers an industry-low 12 percent takeout and included a carryover of $7,061.27 from Thursday.

There will be a carryover of $2,249.84 in the $1 Super Hi-5 for Saturday’s opener. First race post time is 1:10 p.m.

The Rainbow 6 (Races 4-9) and Late Pick 5 (Races 5-9) begin anew on Saturday and include the $100,000 Stormy Blues Stakes, a five-furlong turf sprint which attracted a field of 10 3-year-old fillies. German-bred Elegant Supermodel, making her first start in nearly a year and first in the U.S., is a narrow 5-2 favorite over Do What I Say (3-1) and Ramblin N Gamblin (7-2).

Note: Jockeys Luis Garcia and Horacio Karamanos each posted riding doubles Friday. Garcia was first with Girls Got Rhythum ($4.80) in the seventh race and Captain’s Affair ($18.80) in the eighth, while Karamanos won on Shinobi ($5) in the fifth and Chateau de Vizille ($24) in the ninth. Trainer Arnaud Delacour saddled both Fed Up Fired Up ($2.80) in the third and Captain’s Affair.
