Super Hi-5 Carryover Approaches $1,000 in Saturday Opener
BALTIMORE – There was no unique winner of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 on Friday, creating a carryover jackpot of $187,196.56 for Saturday’s 10-race program at historic Pimlico Race Course.
First race post time is 1:10 p.m. for a Saturday card that kicks off with a $40,000 maiden special weight event for 2-year-olds going 4 ½ furlongs on the main track. The Rainbow 6 will span Races 5-10.
Both K M S N Stable’s Fort Collins and Drawing Away Stable’s Valuetempo were live to take down the jackpot heading into Friday’s finale but finished fifth and sixth, respectively. A total of $50,059 was wagered into the Rainbow 6 pool, and tickets with five of six winners returned $375.44.
The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
There will also be a $1 Super Hi-5 carryover of $949.02 for Saturday’s opener.
Bolstered by a carryover of $4,060.04 and $13,583 wagered into the pool, Friday’s 50-cent Late Pick 5 featuring an industry-low 12 percent takeout was hit for $8,006.75.
Note: Jockey Victor Carrasco visited the winner’s circle twice on Friday, with Honor N Grace ($11) in the sixth race and Barrel Roll ($6.80) in the eighth.
