Track to Host Simulcast Wagering Wednesday to Sunday Starting June 25
Baltimore, MD – A week after being given the green light to reopen six of its off-track betting facilities following their closure amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Maryland Jockey Club has added Pimlico Race Course to the list.
Starting Thursday, June 25, Pimlico will be open Wednesday through Sunday for simulcast wagering, opening the doors each day at 11:30 a.m. The approximate closing time will be 11:15 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 11:45 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 8:30 p.m. on Sundays.
All guests, contractors, suppliers, vendors and employees will be required to have temperature checks and wear face coverings.
Mondays and Tuesdays will remain dark days at Pimlico. To allow for proper social distancing guidelines on simulcast days, customers will be able to access both the first and second floors of the Pimlico clubhouse.
The MJC’s Boonsboro, Frederick, Greenmount, Perryville and Timonium OTB facilities in Maryland as well as Riverboat in Colonial Beach, Va. were each reopened June 20, coinciding with the running of the Belmont Stakes (G1).
Horseshoe Casino OTB and MGM National Harbor Racebook both remain closed to the public, along with MJC racetracks Laurel Park and Rosecroft Raceway. The MJC is hoping to reopen the Horseshoe Casino OTB June 29.
Live racing in Maryland is currently being conducted Fridays and Saturdays at Laurel Park. The next program of 10 races gets underway at 12:40 p.m. Friday, June 26.
