Six-Furlong Sprint for Older Females Tops Nine-Race Program
Jockey Rodriguez Seeking Seventh Straight Multi-Win Day

BALTIMORE – Diane Balsamo’s Anonymously will put a four-race win streak on the line against six rivals including stakes winners Tappin Josie and Prodigy Doll as the winter Heritage Meet resumes Friday at Laurel Park.

Post time for the first of nine races is 12:25 p.m.

An 8-year-old Gio Ponti mare based at Laurel with trainer Jose Corrales, Anonymously went unraced for more than a year before launching her comeback last summer on the Laurel turf course. From there she won six of seven races on the dirt including three straight at Laurel, all under seven-pound apprentice Andres Chavez.

Chavez returns to ride from Post 5 in featured Race 8, a third-level optional claiming allowance for fillies and mares 4 and up going six furlongs. They are second choice on the morning line at 5-2.

The 9-5 program favorite is DEA Thoroughbred Racing’s Tappin Josie, winner of the 6 ½-furlong Society Hill last spring at Parx that has placed in four other stakes including the six-furlong Weather Vane at historic Pimlico Race Course and also ran in the Test (G1) at Saratoga. She has not raced since running third behind multiple stakes winner Intrepid Daydream in a Delaware Park allowance last September.

Prodigy Doll owns four career wins, two at Laurel, as well as a front-running eight-length romp in the 2021 Cheryl S. White Memorial at Mahoning Valley, and has placed in three other stakes. She, In My Opinion and Beneath the Stars are cross-entered in the $100,000 What a Summer for fillies and mares 4 and up also sprinting six furlongs Saturday at Laurel.

A pair of five-time winners, Fuhgeddaboudit and multiple stakes-placed Sweet Gracie, complete the field.

Race 7 Friday is an open entry-level six-furlong allowance for fillies and mares 4 and up led by 7-5 program favorite Mystic Seaport, who had a three-race win streak snapped when third as the favorite in an optional claimer going the same distance Dec. 23 at Laurel. Touisset and Flower Dew are both coming off sprint victories at Laurel.

Jockey Jaime Rodriguez, who led all riders with 166 wins at Laurel and Pimlico in 2023, has won two or more races on each of the first six days of the winter meet, including hat tricks Jan. 5, 6 and 7. He is named in five races Friday, seven of 10 races Saturday including three of four stakes, and eight of nine Sunday.

Jamie Ness leads all trainers with six wins while Lacey Gaudet and Antonio Machado are tied for second with four apiece. Gaudet is four-for-eight at the meet, continuing a stretch where she has won with 14 of her last 23 starters (61 percent) dating back to Dec. 15.

There will be carryovers of $4,744.48 in the 20-cent Rainbow 6 (Races 4-9) and $3,964.56 in the $1 Jackpot Super High Five (Race 6) wagers.
