American Pharoah Favored in Early Wagering for Saturday’s 140th Preakness
BALTIMORE, MD., 05/15/15 – At the close of Friday’s early wagering, Kentucky Derby (G1) winner American Pharoah was the 3-5 favorite for Saturday’s 140th Preakness Stakes (G1) at Pimlico Race Course.
As of 7 p.m., there was $39,754 in the on-track win pool for the Middle Jewel of the Triple Crown. American Pharoah was favored at 4-5 on the morning line in a field of eighth 3-year-olds.
Zayat Stables’ American Pharoah will break from the rail in the 1 3/16-mile Preakness, one spot inside of Bob Baffert-trained stablemate Dortmund, who was third in early wagering at 8-1.
Gates open at 8 a.m. for Saturday’s 14-race program. First post is 10:30 a.m.
