Maryland Bred Information
Maryland-Bred Fund

Maryland has a Thoroughbred breeding and development incentive program established in
1962 by the Maryland General Assembly. State law stipulates a portion of Maryland's
parimutuel handle be allocated to the fund which is awarded to breeders, owners and stallions
for race horses bred in Maryland.

The fund is overseen by an advisory committee who are appointed to one-year terms by the
Secretary of the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.
