Important NOTICE and
Future Vision
As we move forward with the Pimlico Plus Plan, we're announcing a significant milestone in our journey to revitalize Pimlico Race Course and enhance the economic vitality of the Park Heights community. Effective September 1, 2024, all training and wagering operations at Pimlico Race Course will cease. This closure includes all customer-facing activities and the backstretch. The closure is a crucial step in supporting the Maryland Thoroughbred Racing Operating Authority (MTROA) and the Maryland Stadium Authority (MSA) efforts to transform Pimlico Race Course into a year-round world-class racing destination.
Effective/Important Dates:
- September 1, 2024 – All training and wagering operations at Pimlico Race Course will cease. This closure includes all customer-facing activities and the backstretch.
- Fall 2024 - Maryland Stadium Authority is expected to begin sitework and demolition.
- January 1, 2025 - Day-to-day racing and training operations at Pimlico and Laurel Park transfer from The Stronach Group to the State of Maryland/MTROA.
- May 17, 2025 - Preakness 150 to be celebrated at Pimlico Race Course.
